about
I have called Portsmouth home since 1993 and with my husband, Dr. J. Mark Ryan, raised our three adult children, John, Katie and Jamie Ryan - all graduates of Portsmouth public schools. I'm a graduate of Harvard College and NYU School of Law, and have private practice, the U.S. EPA, and teaching legal writing. My volunteer work has spanned chairing the Aquidneck Land Trust to helping at COVID vaccine clinics in Portsmouth and Bristol. As a Portsmouth Town Council member, I spearheaded efforts to secure grants for environmental protection and a new senior center with 54 units of affordable senior housing. In 2022, I was elected to the state senate and have the privilege and honor of serving District 11 (Portsmouth, Bristol). I invite constituents to get in touch with me at (401) 472-4721 or lindaujifusa.ri@gmail.com.
legislative priorities
When I first settled in Portsmouth, it was a place where families, teachers, small business owners, and retired military lived side by side. Local farms thrived, kids played freely, and neighbors looked out for each other. Today, we face so many increasing challenges. Costs of living - from housing to healthcare to electricity - have skyrocketed. Constituents tell me they cannot afford to stay where they grew up or want to retire. My legislative efforts have focused on multiple key problems that are driving costs.
